Nvidia is redesigning its AI chips to meet U.S. export regulations while continuing to serve major Chinese clients like Alibaba, ByteDance, and Tencent. This move follows U.S. government restrictions banning the export of Nvidia's H20 AI chips to China, potentially leading to $5.5 billion in losses. A sample of the new chip may be ready by June, and Nvidia is also developing a China-specific version of its latest Blackwell AI chip. This strategy reflects Nvidia's efforts to maintain its presence in the crucial Chinese market while adhering to U.S. policies aimed at limiting China's access to advanced AI technology.
