The Spanish government has approved a draft bill mandating the identification of AI-generated content. The proposed "Law for the Good Use and Governance of Artificial Intelligence" seeks to ensure ethical AI usage and help users distinguish between real and synthetic content. Violations could result in fines up to €35 million or 7% of a company's annual turnover. The law also prohibits manipulative practices, such as subliminal techniques targeting vulnerable populations. This initiative aligns with broader European regulations and will be overseen by authorities including the Spanish Data Protection Agency.
